This is the world’s first Guru Saranalayam. It is a unique meditation sanctuary where all 22 Siddhars are enshrined together with Lord Murugan, revered as the Atma Guru (Spiritual Guru).

Nowhere else in the world can one witness Lord Murugan in this extraordinary form—depicted as a divine child holding the scripture of Self-Knowledge in one hand and a sword at His waist, standing amidst the 22 Siddhars as the Atma Guru. He serves as the spiritual guide who leads our souls on the righteous path.

Just as the human brain is protected by 22 bones, these 22 Siddhars are believed to safeguard and guide our thoughts and consciousness.

Method of Worship

The method of worship here is truly unique:

1. Guru Entrance (Guru Vaasal)

Begin by entering through the Guru Entrance and worship the first 11 Siddhars in order:

• Thirumoolar
• Karuvoorar
• Ramadevar
• Agathiyar
• Idaikadar
• Bogar
• Pulippaani Siddhar
• Pulathiyar
• Dhanvantri
• Kakabhujandar
• Kudhambai Siddhar

2. Darshan of Atmeshwarar

After worshipping the first eleven Siddhars, offer prayers to Atmeshwarar, who is seated in a meditative posture in human form.

3. Kugan Entrance (Kugan Vaasal)

Proceed through the Kugan Entrance to worship Lord Murugan in His majestic form as the Commander of the Divine Army (Senadhipathi).

The 15-foot-tall deity stands facing the sea, holding the Vel (divine spear) in His hand with a sword at His waist.

It is said that this is the only place in the world where Lord Murugan appears in His true form as the Divine Warrior and Protector, mounted on an elephant.

4. Gnanam Entrance (Jnana Vaasal)

After worshipping Murugan, continue through the Jnana Entrance to worship the remaining 11 Siddhars in sequence:

• Punnakeesar
• Konganar
• Kamalamuni
• Gorakkar
• Machamuni
• Paambatti Siddhar
• Patanjali
• Sivavakkiyar
• Sattaimuni
• Kalanginathar
• Finally, Nandhi Devar

After completing the worship, exit through the Gnala Vaasal (World Entrance).

Benefits of Meditation

This Guru Saranalayam has been constructed in the shape of a three-foot-high pyramid, specifically designed to facilitate meditation.

It is believed that regardless of whether one’s problems are physical or mental, by meditating here continuously for 21 days, the positive vibrations present in this sacred space will help bring healing and solutions.

Sitting amidst the 22 Siddhars and Lord Murugan is said to naturally lead one into a profound yogic state.

About the Founder

The founder of this temple is Guru Atmeshwarar.

According to tradition, the form in which Lord Murugan appeared to Guru Atmeshwarar during meditation became the inspiration for the creation of this Guru Saranalayam.

Many devotees have previously seen images of the 22 Siddhars together with Lord Murugan only in photographs. Here, they can experience these divine forms in person, which is regarded as an immense spiritual blessing.

The Remarkable Books of Guru Atmeshwarar

Guru Atmeshwarar has authored several spiritual books. Some of the most significant include:

Kaliyuga Gita

A sacred work said to have been composed with the blessings of Kaliyuga Krishna.

It is believed that opening this book during times of confusion can help readers understand the causes of their difficulties, recognise their mistakes, and discover guidance toward the right path.

Aathmayam

This book reveals the mysteries of the soul, addressing questions such as:

• What is the soul?
• How can one live without undergoing rebirth?

It is believed that these teachings were bestowed upon Guru Atmeshwarar directly by Lord Murugan as the Atma Guru.

Guru Vazhi Nada (Walk the Guru’s Path)

This book presents the teachings and methods of worship of 50 Gurus in a simple and accessible manner.

According to the text, these teachings were directly imparted to Guru Atmeshwarar by the respective Gurus themselves.
